Default Reprogram Key Remote

The battery in one of my key remotes died, I replaced it and now its not working. Is there a requirement to reprogram this after changing batteries? The owners manual says to open the drivers side door and that should work, but it doesn't. Any advice?

It's me again. I saw on a previous question that you have to take the car into the dealership to have it re-programmed with the car and the other key fob. Almost every manufacturer I've seen has reprogramming instructions that includes turning the ignintion swith on and off numerous times and hitting the remote button. It seems strange that Porsche wouldn't have a similar reprogramming instruction.
