Shift pattern cap removal on transmission knob

Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to remove the shift pattern plastic cap on top of the transmission knob of a 1988 porsche carrera? I would appreciate it. thanks.

Some shifters have a removable pattern, some do not, and are molded to the shift knob itself. I believe your car has the 1 piece unit.
