Got my "new" '05 C4S, am very happy with everything, but I would like to be able to plug my iPod into the existing stereo. Or, if there's no elegant solution to this, replace the stereo system with an iPod / MP3 capable player. I don't want to remodel the dashboard, though, and I'd prefer it to be something that fits in properly -- doesn't disrupt the original look & design with flashly LEDs and such...

Could somebody advise as to the options I have?

There are a few. Dice Electronics, Denison and Neo Car Audio make gizmo's that will let you do that. There might be others too, these are the ones I've seen installed. Porsche is rumored to have a solution too, you might check with your dealer.

 

There is an adapter that plugs into the back of the unit and comes through your glove box. You then plug in your ipod in the glove box

Is it Porsche original? Did you have it done at the dealer, or at an audio outfit?

 

I have an aftermarket Pioneer Nav system and I purchased it as an option. I'm told you can by these options for "most" systems, including Porsche. I would go to an audio store and ask what they have for your radio. Gotta tell you. I love have the ipod option!

Just looked up this AVIC-D3 that you are talking about, but how does this look in the 996 dashboard? I'm assuming this fits in the lower part of the console, but what do you put in the upper part of the console where the radio used to be?

There are a few dash mods, but it fits nicely in the same location as the factory stereo. Send me your email and I'll send you a pic of mine
