Default Targa Popularity, or Lack Thereof

As I winnow down my current fleet, I've been looking at recent to new 911's (997's & 991). I have been in love with the look of the Targa from the first one I saw in 1967. And, those early Targas seem to demand a premium over comparable coupes or later over even the cabrios.

So why did PCNA only sell about 100 Targas in 2011? And that is out of a total sales in USA of 29,023 last year. That's 0.3%!

I saw a white C4S Targa with Black/Sand Beige interior that was an absolute knockout. Am I that "odd" that I like them more than the Cabrios or coupes? Or, is there something about the current Targas that makes them less desirable? What am I missing?
