Hi T

I have had my 03 996tt for about six weeks and I would never have thought I would like a car as much as this Porsche. This is my first Porsche and I just sold my 01 C5 vert with about 550 hp. It was a great car but lacked the refinement of the turbo. When people use the term 'the car feel like an externsion of my body when driving it' I now know exactly what they mean.

Enjoy your new ride... I am.

Hey, thanks Dave...

I'm enjoying it already. I've gotten more used to the clutch and I like the fact that I won't lose my rear powering out of turns. The vette was not very forgiving that way. I'm putting my name on the list for a GT3. I already know I'll love it.

Cheers.

Vette guy ooodeling a 996 TT here also!!!

I'm going to trade in my 01Z06 for a 01-03 996 TT this Fall......

I've yet to get a straight answer on how much 1/4 mile and autocross performance I'll be giving up...... but my 125mph test drive with the dealer was pretty impressive!!! I could not get over how well it just STUCK. No drama just GO!

I too will probably not track the car, but rather will be giving myself a little treat for many many long hours of work

White and blue are at the top of my list right now.

I kept my 'vette when I got my Carrera. There is no doubt the Porsche is more civilized and well built, but the 'vette, even stock, had more torque and more attitude. The engine in the car now (3rd at LeMans in '03, rebuilt by a local NASCAR guy, then supercharged)cost asmuch as the car itself new, but was worth every penny: it drives just like stock (even in stop and go traffic on the way to work) but has God's own torque curve (500 ft lbs off idle) and does 10.2 quarter miles on street tires with me driving, and quarter miles in the 9sand 0-150 in ten seconds with dragtires and my son driving).

The Porsche is my daily driver and our weekend getaway car. It is a very good car -- the best I've owned so far. Still , whereas the 'vette will never go, I intend toreplace the Porsche in two years -- its a very good car but just a car, not something really special--if it were time now it would be a Bentley Continental GT taking its place, I think.

i traded 06 Z06 for an 07 C4S.. i may go to a turbo or aftermarket mods as i miss the quickness and torque of the vette. leave out the speed, the vette doesn't come close to the porsche

I've had it for about a month now and its smoothness along with willingness to turn makes it more fun to drive than the Z06 was, except in an all out brawling straight line. The Z06 was so violent that I was waiting for something to explode off the car. Nothing ever broke on mine, so chevy did a good job.

Went from a 1998 C5 to a 1999 996 Silver C2. Chevy was more bullet proof as far as reliability, but absolutely no regrets.

When I think about it, I had a 94 c4, 01 Z06, and the 06 Z. The 94 and 06 were never in the shop, but the 01 was always there. It had a sticky clutch, bad 2nd gear, rear end problem, and a few other minor malfunctions. 2 out of 3 cars being good isn't that bad. I'm 2 months in with no problems, just wondering if 2nd gear is supposed to be a little tougher to engage than the others in my C2S.

Enjoy

I kept the Z06, mine is an 07 and I love it. I just recently bought an 08 C2 and I love it. They make great garage bookends and are both great cars.
