I did the same. '06 ZO6 for '07 C4S cab. Great improvement in overall street driving and ride/handling quality. We are very pleased with the swap. The Vette, while great in a straight line ON DRY PAVEMENT, could be a real pig on wet roads and I never felt like it handled all that well in the real twisties. It snuck up on me several times and was not forgiving. I've owned many Vette's and they unfortunately still have a cheap quality and feel to them. Thus far, we feel like we've made a great decision.
Now, on my '08 Cayenne turbo.....that's another story! Not nearly as happy or pleased to date. [>:]

 

This quote is perfectly said.I drove a new base 2008 Corvette and was very impressed with it. The 2008 enhanced steering is much improved. In the end I bought a new 2007 Porsche cab over the vette. The Vette while a very nice car feels "manufactured" while the Porsche feels like it was molded out of a solid block of steel. I traded in my 1999 Prosche that I bought new in 1998.

I must admit it was a tough choice and I was not sure what I was going to do untill I did it. The Corvette is improving, maybe next time.

Justsold my 2007 Z06 to my son and I purchased a 2007 GT3. Porsche is my far the better handling car, the Z06 has the horsepower.The Porsche is a better performance car.

 

I've owned several Vettes (check below) but I can't wait to get into a 911. I recently lost my 06Z in an accident and want to replace it with a 997 turbo. I like the fact that I can get the 911 with an automatic. Living in LA and using the Porsche as a DD the automatic makes sense for me.

Anyways, I will probably keep my 03Z06 - which is heavily modded by A&A Corvettes in Oxnard. The car is silly powerful with over 700 rwhp and 680 rwtq.

I agree! I just replaced my trusty 1999 911 CAB for a 2007 model. i was so close to buying the Vette. I think they are both great cars. The Porsche is twice the cost and it made the decision very difficult.

The Blue devil will add another dimension to the debate.

Traded in my 06 Z06 for a 2008 4S and got the car on thursday (just before the big snow storm) and while I only got to drive for about an hour I can tell you that I am very happy I traded in my corvette. I have had 4 corvettes and none of them appears as good as the porsche in terms of quality and all around performance. I think it is no contest unless you only go in a straight line and don't care about the poor interior of a corvette.

 

Never had a Vette and probably never will. I'm a Porsche enthusiast at heart. Not saying a Vette is a bad car...to each his own.

 

I traded my 06 C6 for my 06 C2S Cab and no regrets...long drives were more comfy in the Vette, but the C2S is much more refined. Like trading abig Rambo-sized knifefor a scalpel.
