Default Trailering an 01 911

I'm traveling cross country with a friend to pick up his 01 911 Coupe and we're picking up the car in an open flat bed trailer. He asked me about tie down points on the car. I've never trailered my 911 so I'm not sure. Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks

In the front, depending on the length of the trailer you can either install the tow hook in the front bumper (remove a plug and screw it in), or you can go around the lower control arms with some straps, then hook the ratchet straps to those. In the rear you can do the lower control arms as well. Just make sure you cross the straps. If your loop straps are long enough, you can also tie down through the wheels as well (you should make sure to put a towel between the strap and the rim so they don't scuff).

Keep in mind, the engine is in the rear, so load the car as far forward as you can. A class 4 hitch with stabilizer bars really helps when towing a 911.

Doc--another question. Would it make sense to back the car on to the trailer since the weight is in the rear? The trailer is 16ft. Thanks

I've never tried it, or seen anyone tow like that, and I am going imagine it will put too much weight on the tongue of the trailer.
