whale's tail and interior

whale's tail and interior
I'm new to the forum and shopping for my first Porsche. One I'm considering is an '84 911 Targa Carrera with 40k miles and the seller is looking for "something in the high teens" for the price. The car is garaged winters in a climate controlled environment... actually it's where my cars are stored too, so that's nice.
a couple questions:
1. Is it too many miles for that price?
2. It has a whale tail. WHile I thought that was the coolest thing when I was 12, my tastes have changed and now I think it looks kind of dumb. Can it be easily gotten rid of?
3. It is white with an off-white interior. While I can live with the white outside, I would prefer a darker interior, sunshine be damned. Is it possible to dye the entire interior myself? would it look good or would it look like a botched mess?
ANy help would be appreciated.

RE: whale's tail and interior
Hi Veggiecar, I bought a 85 targa last fall out of the U S and it is great, the miles I dont think is a problem or the tail but the interior colour, well I have been doing bits for mine on the rear shelf and dying the leather and it uses quite a bit. So if you dont mind that and the time factor you could give it a go.
Good luck and enjoy the car
