OK then,
I have the real vin number now, looks like 9114300993, but it must be a 6 instead of a 3 on the 5th digitthis is on the riveted plate in the trunk compartment. I searched for the motor number on top of the block behind the AC at the end of the fan shroud on the passenger side of the car as I was instructed. It's not there. Can or will anyone tell me where to look? Can anyone tell me about the car with this vin #. I have looked at http://www.wspr-racing.com/chassis/porsche/rsr31.htmand cant find anything.

Pick up a copy of the Porsche 911 red book. http://www.themotorbookstore.com/076031960x.html

It will tell you everything you need to know about your car. I unfortunately can not find mine, or I would be able to let you know data on the car, and the motor as well (Ie, you can decode the vin and engine serial #). The serial number of the block is not really behind the AC compressor, it is down next to the alternator/fan shroud on the side of the block.

Thanks, I bought the book and have the vin#9114300993 and the engine #6630859. It has a 5sp. transmission but I have not located tranny # yet.

The Red book refrences another motor should be in the car.

In a post I made before I had taken possesion of the car stated the previous owner had told me the car had a special engine. By what I can find in the "REDBOOK" pg. 35; looks like the car may have the '73 RS engine.

Could this be, a '74 with a '73 RS engine in it. Would it be factory or a transplant. I would bet on a transplant, but I do not know for sure. I am asking for opinions.
Thanks in advance.
