Where can i find a used 996 motor
My dearly beloved 99 996 is laid up with coolant in the oil pan. For better or worse, I was able to drive to the shop where it was diagnosed. Now i'm told i need a new motor - the dealer cost is a little rich - anyone know where to find a "hopefully" reliable second hand motor? or is there an alternative? please?

Have you actually had the motor taken apart? I'm just wondering how you know the motor is completely done as I am in the same position you are in with coolant in the oil in my 99 996. My shop says its probably just the head gasket and they should be able to save the motor. Wont know for sure of course till they pull the motor and check it out. Still cost a lot of money (around $5,000) but a lot less than replacing the motor.
