1983 Springs

I just bought an 83 944. The previous owner cut the springs to lower it. Not sure what happened to lower the rear. I found a set of springs for an 87. Will theyfit? What do I do to raise the rear backup. From whatI saw, the rear is held in place by a torsionbar system. Correct me ifi'm wrong!
