Red face 1988 Porsche 944 project

just picked up a project 1988 944 base model. powerplant and transmission seems to be in good working condition. other components not so great: suspensions, exhaust and oil leaks. i'm hoping to personally work on it myself but since i have not done so in any car, i would appreciate any feedback. thanks!

suspensions: found some koni rear shocks for around $250 for pair at autopartswarehouse except they don't list koni for front struts. bilstein $180 rear pair. both dont have same-brand front struts. there is a sachs for both front and back. does it matter to have same brand all around? being base model, will koni be underutilized? bilstein more than enough?

exhaust: the previous owner pulled the cats out since they don't need emissions where he lives. i'm hoping to try to install myself so i'm looking for almost a cat/muffler kit where won't need much or any welding at all. something like magnaflow direct fit assembly paired with a thrush muffler. if i can get away with no welding, what connectors (?) do i need to install to keep it all together?

i'll probably tackle the oil leaks later. thanks for your input!
