944 parts interchange hood, headlights, and nose
hello all. it looks like i may be coming into a 1984 944. it was donated to a school i go to for automotive classes, it was donated by a person and not a company which means it can be sold so i have asked to buy it and i was told yes and as soon as the paper work clears its mine (for 200-300 bucks!)
the car runs well, trannys shifts smooth and has a good clutch. its all round in decent shape, no rust or super major problem. save for the hood, head light tops, and nose panel ( the part between the headlight bumper and hood.) i need to replace them because the person kinda went undersomething and dented and scratched it all. so my main question is whats the year range of the 944 that these parts interchange?
thanks, Mark.
Ps, this thing is fun to drive and puttin down some nice long posi black marks is always a plus.

IIRC the early 944's have the header panel tack welded on, so you will have to pop the welds to remove it. Any 83-85.1 will have the same parts. Any NA after 85.5 will have the same header panel and headlight covers, though I think the later header panel is bolted in place, so you might have to do some modifying there. Should be easy. The hood you will need a 83-early 85 hood, or IIRC a 924 hood will work as well.
I'd just like to point out that the 944 Turbo & S2 have slighty different front panels and are not interchangeable with the 944 N/A unless you replace all of the panels except maybe the bonnet/hood?

Don't mean to hijack the thread but ya'all know where I could get my hands on one of those early 944 racing hoods with the scoop by the cam tower?

Go to the Porsche Palace! They retail @ $139.95
Um no. No, the ones I'm looking for are the vintage racing hoods where the scoop is build into the hood, not sitting on top and obviously added like some gay-*** ricer. The hood is all flush, but there's a recess in it with the scoop in it. Like the hood pictured, but for a 944. Still haven't found anyone who sells them.

Ummm, yes, this bonnet that you're after is a 924 Turbo bonnet/hood. I don't know if it is interchangable with the 944, but I don't see why not. The only place I think you will find one is from a breaker! I would'nt think you'll find a new one.
The picture that I posted isn't a picture of a "gay-*** ricer's" bonnet/hood, it's a Porsche 924 Carrera G.T.'s bonnet/hood scoop!
yo tigger, is that hood scoop viable on a 944 N/A, moreover is it functional? The linkyou posted no longer works for me and ive seen some at GT racing but id rather purchase the entire assembly, do you know where i could get that?
