i dont believe the guy knew much about car audio when yanking the old radio out, however no colors match up with my current unit and the few wires that have writing on them are in german i believe.

I can't remember on the early cars as to the colors exactly, but there should be red and red with a black stripe. One should be constant 12v, and the other switched 12v. Ground is typically brown. Then you should just need your speaker wires.

Get a test light, and it should be able to tell you what is what.

What year? I can dig up the electrical skematics for your radio harness.
