my 87 944s is burning up a fair amount of oil - 1/2 quart every 50mi, however, i often run it into the 4000+ rev range. the car doesn't smell rich or burn blue, theres never any oil on the driveway. just wondering if there was some kind of oil injection system when the variable valve timing hits @ 4k??? i just turned 150,000 on the clock, and im hoping this doesnt mean a rebuild?

 

Sorry, but it sounds like you are looking at a rebuild. My track cars don't even burn a half quart of oil every 3-400 miles, and they are running a lot harder. I would do a compression test and a leakdown test and see what the engine health is like.
