Default Checked trans mounts. Now what?

Thanks for the advice about the slop I feel in the trans Doc,I checked the only 2 mounts I could see. One on the left and one on the right of the trans. Both were tight and solid. I even used a bar to try and move trans. It hardly budged. When I hand spun the wheels with it in gear there seemed to be a lot of backlash. about 4 inches when I spun them opposite and about 2 to 3 inches when spun in the same direction. Is that normal? What about bad syncros? Still wondering about that rubber disc or plate in the clutch. When downshifting I sometimes get a loud meshing whine sound coming from the rear too. What you think? Thanks again.

Pull the starter and see if any rubber chunks are laying in the bellhousing. That will be a good sign of the clutch coming apart.
