A Couple of ****ling probs with 86 944 RHD
Hi
I have come across a couple of 944 probs for my Right Hand Drive 1986 Porsche 944 (non turbo):
My passenger window could only go down if both driver and passenger pushed the button at the same time- and the passenger window always seemd to go very slow as if it was struggling or tight....then all of a sudden none of the windows will go down at all now. I have ordered 3 new switches and am hoping that is the problem..any ideas ?
When I have my headlights on and indicate left, my headlights cut out.
When I have my headlights on and indicateright, my headlights go to high beam.
New switch assembly necessary ? (I do not have cruise control or headlight wipers on this model) Where is the cheapest secondhand dealer where I can find this part who will post to Australia ?
Where was the original switch to open the trunk located ? I can't seem to find it at all, however there is a cut wire near my handbrake...could this be it ?
My handbrake does not hold at all unless it is in gear- new cable or entire unit ?
Finally, my petrol gauge only goes up to 3/4 even if the tank is completely full...will this be a "fuel sender float thing" ?
I have replaced my interior light, but it still does not work, even though it worked when it was in the trunk- the globe is fine and so is the light housing ? Would a fuse affect this ?
Sorry for all the questions...Thanks for the help I always learn alot on this forum

1. Switches should take care of it.
2. Wow, never heard of that. Either the switch or possibly the relay
3. It should be down on the outer wall, near your right foot as you are sitting in the drivers seat (on a right hand drive). It is a big rectangular button.
4. Sounds like the parking brake shoes just need to be adjusted in the rear.
5. Could be a dirty float, or the gauge has lost calibration.
6. Check for power at the light....if no, then check the fuse.

I would also check for proper grounding. Sometimes when a good ground cannot be found in a circuit it will "read through" another circuit causing crazy problems like the ones you describe. I know that 86 models are generally rustproofed very well, so you might look for something loose or disconnected.
