Help!! Boot wont open. 84' 944

The boot wont open!!
When I press the switch in the drivers footwell I can hear the solonoid trying to open the boot, But it wont budge. Also I cant turn the key far enough round and I dont want to snap the key.
Any ideas,
Is there a catch at both sides of the boot as I can see a rod going to each end.

I am guessing by Boot you mean trunk :-) I have the same problem with mine, I have to gently "pull" the deck a little to either side while lifting the lid.

One of the pin locks on either side is probably worn out and sticking. I give mine a nice nudge with my knee to open it, lol. They get pretty rusty over time and start to not work.

RE: Help!! Boot wont open. 84' 944

I had a simular problem with mine not to long ago. The hatch doesn't open great at the best of times, but I (the same as you) couldn't open it with the key or the switch. As you say you can hear the motors going, but the boot still won't open.[:@]

I found that the rod from the motor had parted company with the lock at the lock end.

To fix it, I climbed in to the boot from inside, reconnected the bar, then (at the same time) got someone to open it with the key. Now, with the hatch open (and a lot more room to manouvre) you can replace the missing spring-clip on to the end of the rod.:)

I hope this helps, if not...I'm stumped!
