Help please - Topping up manual transmission fluid -on '86

First time getting at this..I see the drain plugs, is the fill plug the rubber plug on drivers side toward front of transmission? any reco's on gear oil to use? Thanks very much.

There is only 1 drain plug (the lower one). The upper one is the fill plug. 17mm allen. Takes between 2-3 quarts.

thanks very much - so apparently both th fill and drain plugs are 17MM aluminum plugs. Maybe the hole with rubber plug is some type inspection or tool access port?

PorscheDoc 05-31-2009 02:35 PM

Well they should be steel plugs. The rubber plugs cover the access holes to the torque tube coupler which needs to be disconnected when removing the transaxle.
