THINKING ABOUT BUYING A 83 944 WITH 61,000 MILES. RUNS GOOD BUT AUTO TRANS IS STUCK IN PARK. WHAT SHOULD I DO? WHAT AM I GETTING INVOLVED IN.

I think the first thing you should do is press your Caps Lock key.

Seriously, if the car really only has 61K miles and is invery excellent condition like it should be in for a car with that low mileage it'sprobably worth having the transmission fixed.

How much can you buy it for?

That's too much for an '83with a puked tranny. I would say if you can get it for between $1,500 and $2,000 it might be worth the effort. Remember, the used car market is way down because of our depressed economy.Prices published in the wholesale books from even last month are too high. This is a buyer's market - don't overpay.
