Default looking to up grade

Hi i have a "86" 944 non turbo and looking to get some more power without puting the turbo on. I have been looking for a super charger to put on where the air conditioner is do you think this is possible . I am also looking at changing my exhust system and making a cold air intake and maybe a new chip but would like to up grade to something as powerfull as the S2 motor so i looked at super chargers or Nos what do you think. If you have any other ideas let me know.

Thanks Daniel

try looking at vortex superchargers, they make them compatible with about anything, as far as nitrous goes, if you can build the engine good enought to withstand nitrous then best of luck to you but most engines dont agree well with nitrous

Go with the vortex, Nitrous is good for a little while, but it will give you problems in the long run.

Well it depends on how much you are looking at spending but there is a place called, renegadehybrids.com and they do LT1 or any chevy V8 conversion kit, the kit with all extras is about $4540 and tehn you also have to get an engine which will cost about 2000 but from what I have heard it is a good conversion, you should chek it out, I am saving up to get the same kit. best of luck

The V8 conversion for what I have read is small block only, IE: 350. Not that that's all bad, but from there then you have to get customized down pipes, not to mention I'm sure the mods you will have to put through the diff/tranny. It would be a bad *** mod though!

I say find go with a good supercharger (stay far far away from the roots superchargers, they will screw up your engine and in some scenarios have been known to explode) or if at all possible twin turbo. To hell with Nitrous. If this is a daily driver NOS or NX will screw you car to hell and back. Our engines were not meant to withstand the heat at which compressed nitrous gas burns at. Also for some good time bump up your injectors a few psi. Screws your gas mileage but.... it’s a Porsche, who cares about gas mileage.

Yeah true it will be a lot of work. The company I found the conversion through sales a kit that has everything from Headers, wireing harness to hook to the porsche computer and a special peacie that connects it straight to the porsche torque tube, the supercharger is also a great mod, i was looking at a procharger for the LT1 but maybe to much power!

You will not get a running driving car for anywhere near 6500 dollar using that kit unless you are a wrench/fabricator. Finished cars have generally run in the 12K range by the time all was said and done + the cost of the car.

There is nothing wrong with a root style blower (and they are not going to explode). If you are serious about the upgrade check out www.speedforceracing.com they sell install kits that do go where the AC would go (kind of). It is really hard to tell here who is serious and who is a giant ******, so you will have to accept my apologies upfront.

Nitrous system do work and work well. I would probably recommend a 50 shot. The main problem with Nitrous is that refills are expensive and becoming more difficult to find, plus you have to put the tank somewhere.

Not sure what this person is talking about with "turning up the injectors a few PSI." He would have to elaborate as to how to do it and why.

Speaking as someone who has run both nitrous and a roots style supercharger on a 944 series car, I can comment that (1) my car was not "screwed to hell and back" and (2) my roots blower never "exloded". That would be a trick for an intake side part that is before the fuel rail. It is about as likely as your cone filter exploding.

Josh, well who knew, someone who has actually had both Nitrous AND an SC...oh no Mr. Pilkington's house of cards crumbles fast.

I can understand the confusion when you're learning about cars by watching 'The Fast and the Furious". For the record, nitrous has never made my floorboard fall off either.

I'm still very intrigued about how the roots style blower can explode. No fuel, just air and a pulley. Try doing this google: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22...gle=1&ei=UTF-8 and see how common the problem is. Maybe it has happened... it just hasn't happened to anyone with internet access.
