im thinking of buying an 89 turbo 944 she wants 1,000$ for it it started knocking and she had parked it and its been sitting for the past like 4 years....i need to know what the problem could be and how much money im looking at if i do the work myself...it didnt crack the block or anything so im pretty sure its not a broken rod...what else? thanks guys

 

I would jump on that fast. Even if the motor is popped, you can part the car out and make about 4-5k. Best thing to do is to take it to a mechanic, have them put on a new timing belt, and get it started and see what they think. It could be anything from loud lifters, to a spun rod bearing, to a damaged rod or piston. Not something anyone is going to be able to figure out over the internet.
