I bought an 83 944 with 115,000. 4 years later it had 250,000 and was still driving fine. The compression was the same as when it left Germany. It just needed new valve seals because it was starting to burn a little oil. It was my every day driver. My commute to work was 50 miles in both directions. So I was putting at the minimum of over 500 miles a week

It depends on the previous owners tune up habits. If the car has all its records, it should be ok.
