Default Removing clear plastic face of cluster

I've got my instrument cluster out of my '88 944 while I replace the odometer gear. I'd like to clean and polish both sides of the clear plastic cover as well as clean the inside face where the instruments appear. Is the clear cover designed to be removed at all? It seems like there are tabs along the bottom that can be separated, but I'm afraid to put much pressure on them and crack the plastic.

I don't think those are made to be removed. With that being said, anything can be taken apart and carefully glued back together again with enough patience.
