Whats a 944 Turbo Engine Worth??
 

I have a 1988 944 Turbo. I am going to convert it to a V8 simply because I am sick of the stock engine. Last fall the ECM went out and I just figured it would be a good time to do something different.

I have a fresh Chevy 383 stroker waiting for a car, so I thought what the heck

So what is a Turbo engine with 65K worth if I wanted to sell it. Nothing wront with it, ran damn good and compression was great.

Provided the compression and leak down numbers are good, anywhere from 1500-2000.

Why does that car have an NA front end if it is a turbo?

The pervious owner had gotten into a accident, and wanted to fix it as cheap as possible, so he baught the non-turbo front end for it. It was a good sleeper car before because from the front people never thought it was a turbo, but the rear end is still the turbo setup.

if it's only got 65k on it the rest of the car should be in good shape. Why would you think you could not get 3k for it? Unless it's trashed or the collision was not repaired right it's prob worth atleast 12-14 looking at what is out there right now running and clean with those miles on it...

12-14, probably not a chance he would ever get anything that high. The fact that it was hit in the front end and had to have an NA front bumper, fenders, header panel, and headlight covers put on greatly decreases the value of the car. Even with the turbo nose, 10-11 is about all you can expect. With the body work, i would venture to guess 7k maybe.

I'd say far less than that. IF it is a turbo, then 3k would be top dollar. However, be very careful if you are thinking about buying this car. The stock N/A front bumper IS NOT a direct bolt on (or the other way around) - front fenders are different. Add to this the amount of work needed to convert the N/A's front end to accept the intercooler and other "turbo" goodies and the story begins to fall apart.

I'd be willing to buy your turbo longblock with no manifolds and no front acessories for $1000. Assuming everything is in as good as condition as you say.

Id say 7-9, but at any rate thats better than 3.

Upon closer inspection with Photoshop the car has no Turbo rockers (the blackaero pieces below the side skirts)either. I'm not inclined to believe the previous owner bought the 944na front end either - the Turbo front bumpers are far more plentiful and probably cheaper, and as has been said, a regular 944 bumper wouldn't fit the nose or the fenders of a 944 Turbo. If you want to sell your engine you should probably take a picture of that - instead of leading us to believe you're lying by not showing us the back end Turbo decal, or the engine bay, or the VIN, or anything.
