Default wheel spacers

In a continuing effort to put boxter wheels on my 87 944, I ordered H&R DRS spacers (stock number 2895716), Performance Products part number 911827. I consulted Performance Products sales people and told them of the longer concentric style hub on the '87 and they assured me that the above noted spacer should work. Well, as it goes, the spacers don't fit my car. The machined shoulder doesn't allow for the spacer to slide down the hub more than 1/4". I called H&R and they didn't realize that their spacer didn't fit my '87. They are tring to get more info from the German manufacturer about this problem. Failing anything positive from them, I'll be forced to have the spacer collar machined off to allow for installation. Has anyone dealt with this problem? If you're considering this for your 87 and above, beware!!

Default RE: wheel spacers

Heh. I found out the hard way when my Boxster rims started making my car shake. My friend has some turbo-twists on his 84 (i think) 944 so I thought I wouldn't ahve a problem. If you ever find spacers for your car please post where I can get a set.

Default RE: wheel spacers

Since my original posting, I've taken my spacers to a machine shop where they machined off the shoulders but left the central core unchanged. They now have the precise fit and should not be a problem. Haven't installed the wheels yet but don't forsee a problem. Fingers crossed. Waiting until The new Koni's and alignment are completed before I put this to the test. German manufacturer said they were aware of the problem with non-fit but didn't make the info available to the retailers. Nice.
