Default 2001 clutch and FLYWHEEL??

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I own an 01 Boxster and am bringing the car in for a clutch job. I have 58000 on the car and am pretty aggitated thatthe clutch already went. That being said, I'm being told that the flywheel may need to be replaced as well. Well that would add an additional 800 maybe to the cost (for the part). Can someone help out, why can't the flywheel just get resurfaced? I really don't want to spend another grand on this job....someone please help - thanks so much.

The dual mass flywheel can be resurfaced on a suface mill. Any good machine shop should have one. You can not turn them like a traditional single mass flywheel. I usually charge about $75 to do so.

If the dual mass flywheel is starting to come apart though, then it will need to be replaced.

Thanks for the reply and info. Where are you located? If the machine shop my mechanic is using won't do it, is this something I can send to you and have you do?

Thanks again.
