after the battery light came on, I tried to recharge the 5 year old battery and it won't hold a full charge. I installed a new one and the battery light is still on. I checked the voltage at the batt terminals and they indicate no charge from the alternator (big surprise). My question is: can the alternator be installed from under the car or does it have to be installed from on top? If so, how do I get access to it?

 

It is done through the front access panel and the top access panel.
