Default check engine light

Hey the CEL came on in my 97 boxster, and I have no idea why. I don't have access to a scan tool, so I was wondering is there another way to check the engine codes? Also, is there anyway to clear the code without a scan tool? Let me know guys, kind of troubling me, hoping it's nothing bad. Was also wondering if the CEL comes on for oil changes or is that a different light, or no light at all.

Default 2001 boxster check engine light

Hello, I have a 2001 Porsche Boxster that the check engine light will not go off. After testing the sensor is bad. Is there a way to just unplug the check engine light? I can't afford to have the sensor replaced. Thanks! Charles
