Default oil change

Hi guys,
I bought a 1998 Boxster last year (first sports car) and I am up for my first oil change. The local Porsche dealership charges $130 for an oil/filter change. I called a local gas station and they gave me a price for half that. Same oil-Mobil 1 synthetic. Am I missing something? Any tips would be appreciated, thanks.

Dealers can charge up to $250 for an oil change on a porsche I am afraid. Boxster requires about 10 quarts of 0-40 mobil 1 and 1 filter OC 128 (and a crush seal for the drain plug). There is nothing special about the boxster.

Hey I just had my oil changed in the boxster at the local porsche dealership called Phaff in Canada and it cost about $230 talk about a kick in the ***.. Ya any way if anyone knows how to do the oil change or which is the easiest way to access the filter and drain plug with just a floor jack *if possible* it would be greatly appreciated. Anyway we did buy porsches we shouldn't be surprised at the prices.

We are also a Porsche performance shop. An oil change on a boxster should take 9 qts of oil and since it is synthetic it should run you over $100 for the change with oil, filter, and labor to change it. I doubt that other shop can do it for half that because the oil cost more than half.

Our local dealer does synthetic mobil 1 oil changes for 59.95. You can look it up on their website (aristocrat motors)
