which do u folks think is more reliable, the v6 or the v8 engine? i'm considering an 08, or maybe a used 06 but this would be a daily driver so i needto be able to rely on it.

I don't think you would have a problem with either choice. My bias is the 8 cylinder. The Cayenne weighs upwards of 5000 lbs. With that much weight, you will not see much gas savings at all with the 6-cylinder, but you would notice the lack of power. I would not base this decision on reliability issues. If you have not test driven both, go test drive the base and S versions.
