2009 Cayenne v6 never have had any problems, 68,000 miles on it. All of a sudden we cannot hear ourselves think in it. It is not a muffler sound but sounds like continuous over-revving. The indicator shows D-6, non sport position and the tach is at 2000 rpm at 70 mph cruising. Does this tach reading sound too high? I know that it is difficult to diagnose a sound but
any ideas?

I took the cayenne across the street to my tire guy and described the noise and he immediately said wheel bearings. Just had front replaced and car is fine. I am surprised that car guys on the board, unlike myself, didn't guess this.
