1993 RS America for sale
WPOAB2964PS418108. Polar Silver Metallic. 93,805 miles. Excellent condition. Dry weather use only. Recent 3M Invisiguard trunk and fender bra, plus headlight and mirror protection applied. Flawless original interior, black seat belts and door pulls, plus original RS America floor mats. Supplied with all four available factory options: Electric Sunroof (650), Air Conditioning (573), Limited slip differential – 40% locking (220) and CR-1 AM/FM cassette radio (331) (now upgraded). Plus factory rolled fenders. The 108th RS America off the production line, of a total run of only 701 cars. Of those cars, less than 20% had all four available options, as this one does. With a production run half that of the collectable 1973 Carrera RS, future values will skyrocket…
Stock except for Koni Cup shocks on rear, Duraluminum lug nuts, Weltmeister Cambermeister front strut brace, Brey-Krause seat bracket with Amerex Halotron fire extinguisher, distributor ventilation kit, drilled free-flow airbox (Fabspeed Motorsport claims an extra 8 HP), newer Blaupunkt head unit and trunk-mounted Blaupunkt 10-CD player, plus MB Quatz speakers (original CR-1 cassette radio included). The stock 247 HP motor was enhanced with an Autothority chip which delivers another 13 HP or so. Pirelli P-Zeros on the rear, Michelin Pilots on the front – all in excellent shape.
Comes with full original toolkit, compressor, aluminum jack and unused aluminum spacesaver spare. Regularly serviced at Dougherty Automotive, West Chester with all service records from new including original window sticker (original sticker price of over $62,000), original bill of sale, all manuals, RSA sales brochures, etc. New clutch 10K miles ago. Recent alternator rebuild and $1400 major service less than 1000 miles ago. Stored and covered in heated garage (C2 Tiptronic is my winter car). Regularly started to keep all gaskets and seals lubricated. I have just dropped the price to $39,500.

Background to the RS America
The RS America is a lightened, limited edition, performance version of the venerable Porsche 911 Carrera made for the 1993 model year which, according to Porsche, both “commemorates the 20th Anniversary of,” and “captures the spirit of” the original 1973 Carrera RS.
The intent was to create a basic lightweight, no frills 911 with minimal luxury options. Fitting the RS America with the M030 sport suspension package, which included the use of much of the running gear from the 911 C2 Turbo, led to higher performance limits. The Turbo's progressively wound coil springs, larger diameter front stabilizer bar, and upgraded shock absorbers were standard equipment for the RS America, as were 17” diameter C2 Turbo wheels. The RS America rims were 7” wide on the front and 8” wide on the rear (as opposed to the 7” wide front and 9” wide rear wheels of the C2 Turbo).
According to Porsche Cars North America, as published in the Porsche fact book for 1993, “The RS America is a new derivative of the Carrera 2 for drivers who demand an even higher level of feedback – feedback so detailed, so precise that it usually is found only in racing cars. Indeed, the designator “RS” – German for “Renn Sport” or “Race Sport,” is traditionally reserved for the highest performance Porsches. In a Porsche RS model, refinements in the suspension, steering, wheels and tires all work in combination with perfectly coordinated weight reduction to create a dramatically different driving feel.”
Fred Schwab – the then President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) during his speech at the concours banquet at the 1992 PCA Parade in San Diego, when he announced the introduction of the RS America as a one-year-only model for 1993, said, “If you like to autocross, this is your car. If you are a time-trialer, you need this car.
If driving is for fun, this is your car – the car that the Porsche Club of America built.”
If you can find one, a real 1973 Carrera RS will fetch way upwards of $100,000. Get the car created twenty years later to better the original for far less and catch a collectible before it’s out of your reach…
