Default 87 924s

Didnt get any responces to my new guy thread so I thought I'd try in here. Bought a very straight 924 for next to nothing because the previous owner was going to do a v-8 conversion and got in over his head. Didnt know how to take the original motor out and ruined it. I got all of it with the car but he didnt take out the bolts that go to the spline to the trans axle and ended up taking a sledge hammer to it and put a hole in the oil pan. A used pulled motor runs any where from $740 delivered to a grand. A professionally rebuilt motor I can get for $1350.00 give or take. I like the idea of the rebuilt motor but I'm not sure if I'm skilled enough to install it my self. Some one with knowledge please tell me if its do able. I have rebuilt many 40s, 50s, and 60s cars but I'm comparing apples to oranges. Is there a how to book that I can follow step by step or am I better off getting a professional import mechanic to do it? If I could find a new oil pan would having someone rebuild what I have be an option? Please help!
