Default 993 Oil Level Guage always in the RED?

Hi there everyone.

My 96 993 coupe's small cluster oil level guage never moves up from the red zone? I didn't notice it, because that guage is fairly useless <my opinion>. I read the manual and all electronics seems fine. I had the oil changed months ago and I think I remeber seeing it bob around the top of its mark and bounce down as it usually does.

To check- I'll pulled oil dip stick at idle on a level grade and I've got a full tank of Mobile 1. I shut her down and then turned key on withour starting. All guages went through normal start sequences and the guage was not at the top. It moved off the bottom like it should. It just won't move out of the RED?
I just replaced a dead battery and ran the car all over the place to reset the DME data.

PUZZELED? Has anyone had a problem.
