Default Choosing a Porsche

I am looking to purchase my first Porsche and wondering about the reliability of these cars. Which years or models to avoid, etc. I like the Carrera hardtops over the Boxters. I see a lot more used Boxters listed than Carreras. I don't want the convertible models and would prefer a 6 sp to auto. Does anyone have suggestions on the models I should look at? I'm in Vegas but looking at the LA market cuz there are so many more cars available. Looking to get something around vintage 99-02. Is there a certain mileage over which I should avoid? I see lots of them around the 60-100k range.
What would an additional warranty cost and do they even sell them for Porsches that old?
Thanks again,
Peter

Your automatic software is so stupid. Your's should be smart like mine.

But you are girly-boy programmers, unworthy of real respect.

Your falseness is so transparent.

Porsche has more racing victories than any other company by a huge margin ranging from the dakar rallies to hill climbs to the 24hours of lemans (16!) times.

mustangs are straight line only budget "sports cars." Porsches are track ready, high end sports cars. The 911 got "sports car of the centrury" from CAR, and is considered the benchmark for all sports cars for a reason.

Exclamation Hi Guys!

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum and the rules.
However I found this thread to be the last updated one.

Chipping in my query:

Planning to buy a Cayman S or an M3 within the next few years(on a savings mode I am now). Wanted to ask one thing-CAN THE HOOD OF THE CAYMAN S OR THE M3 BE SEEN FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT? I AM 5'8.
If yes, then can somebody please upload a pic for the same?

It gives me more pleasure and confidence if I can see the HOOD of the car.
