Default battery problem??

I have a 1996 911---I live in snow country and did not drive it for approx 5 months this winter. I had the battery hooked to a trickle charger. When I went to start it today, all I got was a rapid clicking sound plus the panel lights flickering rapidly---the starter never turned over. What's that all about??

How old is the battery? It may not hold a charge and may be time for a new battery. Most parts stores can test the battery.

Hi Certainly needs a new battery. They dont last forever unfortunately, especially if the car sits for periods of time without being used. However the trickle charger does help[sm=helpout.gif]

I have a friend of mine with an "03" vet that just did the EXACT same thing. It turns out that somehow the battery went dead (even while on the trickle charger) and sent a loss of communication signal to the computer. The dealership pulled the codes and basically re set the computer......nothing wrong.
