car heating up a little bit

the car heats up a little bit when its in neutral but when its in gear it cools down again to me it sounds like a blown head gasket but im not sure.help,please. its a 1985/2 944.

Sounds like maybe your fans are not coming on. I would replace your auxillary fan switch first.
