Cockpit Displays: Backlight Issue

Cockpit Displays: Backlight Issue
Hello. Can anybody help...
...The backlight of the displays on my 2001 Boxter is faulty. When the headlights are switched on, it generally takes about 5 miles of driving before the backlight comes on!
All other interior lights are OK (ie for aircon, stereo etc). I have recently had a leak (fixed with a new passenger side door membrane), so maybe some damp has caused some damage)...?!
I have taken the car back to the OPC; however, the gremlins always seem to be on best behaviour on these occasions!!
Any ideas?
Cheers, Michael

I would pull the cluster and replace the bulbs in the areas that are suspect. That should take care of it. If not, then you probably have a cluster going bad, which I have not seen in the boxsters yet.
