need help (car needs to be turned on every 5 days?)

here's what my buddy has but we have a problem. according to the dealership, they said that the vehicle key has to be turned within a 5 day period for eternity in order to keep the vehicle from going into lock mode! i know this lock mode thing happens because the first time that he had the vehicle, he let it sit for a week and the car would not power up or anything so it had to be towed to the dealership to get it reset and out of lock mode! can the dealership disable this damn option? it's rather annoying!
Lol, no, it does not need to be turned on every 5 days, that is ludicris. The battery will start to drain over time, which will obviously keep the car from powering up if you let it sit long enough. Invest in a trickle charger / battery maintainer for the battery, and you won't have a problem. Dealers crack me up with the things they say to people.
Hi,
Fora 996TT...
I recently garaged mine for a couple of weeks during an o/s trip and had no problems.
After 5 days the remote shuts down to reduce battery drain. To re-enable the remote key, unlock the car with key through the door lock. start engine with key and everything will be back to normal. Your remote is once again working as it did before. Check out your manual as it states it clealry.
You don't need to keep activiting the remote!!
As PorscheDoc notes, if you don't drive the car regularly then a battery conditioner will work a treat. Most Porsche dealers use them to keep the cars on their show-room floors batteries alive!
