I am also new to the forum. I am from arizona and own a 1978 911 it has been in my family for years. I am working on restoring it. It needs new paint, its original color is chiffon white. I didnt know if i should re paint it the same color or possibly black? I also was wondering if an H.I.D. conversion was possible.. and if a modern day head unit could replace the original one? any input will help...thanks!

 

Unless you are going to do a 100% repaint, then I would keep it the original color. IMHO, paint jobs lose their quality quickly when you open the engine cover or trunk and it is a different color.

Updated the head unit should be no problem

I've done HID conversions on the later cars, but not on the earlier ones. I am sure you can. Probably involves changing the lens out to something that accepts the HID bulbs, and then wiring the ballast kit in.

 

I am doing a 100 percent re paint and I think I am going to go with chiffon white. Thanks for answering my questions. I am starting alot of the work tomorrow and hoping to get it painted in a couple of weeks

 

oh and i wrote that wrong... its a 1971 911t converted into an 89 930 turbo if that makes sense. I will put some pics up once i paint it.
