Just joined and have a couple questions?
Hi I have a 1982 911 Carrera. I just love the car and have had it for 20 years now, and would probably never get rid of her. I'm either going to die in it or be buried in it or both. The first question that is of concern is that I'm starting to get smoke from the exhaust and it kind of smells. The smoke seems to be intermittant at times. What could the possible causes and remedies be?
Question 2. When starting when cold, idle seems to be normal. Then after about 1 minute the idle becomes erratic? Revs go up and down until eventually the engine quits unless throttle is applied. The procedure that I usually follow, I apply throttle for about 2-3 minutes in the normal idle range to get the engine warmed up then I shut the engine off for 3-4 minutes. Then when I restart the engine, it seems to idle perfectly?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
The car runs beautifully and has about 100,000 on the clock.
