Default Looking to buy my first porsche????

What porsche should I get?

I will be buying an older one. What years are junk and what ones are the best bang for the buck?

I was thinking of a 911 or a 944?

Are the 944 turbo cars slow?

I have 2 vettes and 2 old minis. I am looking for something that will keep up to a vette. In the 0-60 range of 5 to 6 seconds or faster.

Which years are more mechanically friendly to fix and prices for parts.

Looking on ebay and some are really cheap.

What year of 911 can a chevy 350cc can be put in, I have seen some adds years ago about the transplant.

Hey Nels,
I was once in your shoe's. i wanted anything w/ the name PORSCHE on it. but, turns out not all R quality. So long story short. 911's rule. Anything upthru a 98' . Just seek & search you'll find one u can afford. No such thing as a bad Porsche 911 that is, just new owners. Porsman5 out.[sm=shades.gif]

I am not sure what your price range is but, in my experience with Porsche's it seems like the biggest bang for your buck would be to try and get into a mid to late 80's Porsche 911(930) Turbo like the one qikru66 is trying to sell. I seem to find them in the price range of 25,000 - 50,000...Price varies on condition usually. Most of them stock will run 0-60MPH in 5.1 seconds and I am not completely sure what the top speed is, but it'sfast enough. The 930 Turbo rivals the Ferrari 328 and is about half the cost to drive and 25% less to purchase.

My first Porsche was a 1981 911 SC that I purchased with high miles for $12,500. It was not too expensive to maintain and it was a fabolous first Porsche to own. 3 years later I upgraded to a 1986 911(930) Turbo. My 930 has gone through a RUF Btr conversion so it is a little beefier than a stock 911 Turbo (and there is not better car on the planet). To make a long story short the 911 Turbo is a timeless classic and I believe it is the quentessential European supercar.

I have a 1968 vette 427 for sale if you are interested ??
