One is not enough
I waited 35 years for my first new Porsche, I had a 912 and my wife had a 914, years ago. Last year we were able to buy, what I think was, the last new 996 Targa sold in the US. Lapis Blue, 6 speed, Bose. It's a great handling car, but after waiting all those years to buy a new Porsche I didn't want to put too many miles on the 911 so last Friday we bought a triple black Boxster S. This will be my daily driver so I got this one with Tiptronic, freeway traffic in So California takes the fun out of a manual.[IMG][/IMG] The Audi TT was traded in for the Boxster. It's been raining so I don't have any pix of the new one yet.

RE: One is not enough
Thank you both. What I have is two great cars and a wife that appreciates them as much as I do. Both Porsches we bought came about because we were having to visit the dealer about our Audis. I had a TT and my wife is driving an Allroad. Both times we walked the Porsche lot and saw "the" car for us. It probably took us 2 minutes of discussion to decide to buy, we're both really impulsive at times. It can take me 45 minutes to decide what to have for dinner, but I can decide to buy a Porsche in 45 seconds, specially after a test drive.
I used to ride my bicycle to this dealer when I was 13 (many years ago) one Saturday a month to see what cars they had received. I knew the guard dogs (2 german shepards, go figure) they had in their back lot. I used to bug the sales people with questions about these great cars from a person that didn't yet have a drivers license. I guess I knew someday I'd be back as a paying customer.
It's raining again ( It's not supposed to rain in Southern California) but someday soon we'll get to put the top down on the Boxster and open the top on the Targa. My wife and I are looking forward to some tandem cruising. We'll flip a coin to see who drives which.
Cheers!

Congrats on a great car. Getting the Tiptronic for a daily driver makes a lot of sense. I am very happy with the one in my 996. I think the car is actually faster in day to day city driving with that transmission than it could ever be with the manual -- it can downshift or even double downshift in a split second whenever you say "go!".
Interestingly, I too traded an Audi on mine (a 2004 S4).
