Time to introduce myself
Hey guys
My name is Michael and I have lurked around here a couple of times and now decided to join. I've been a big fan of cars for as long as I can remember. Obviously Porsche has been one of my favorite cars. Especially the 911 with it's timeless design and great reliability.
First some personal information. I'm originally from Sweden but am now a US resident. I have lived and worked in many places around the world including the Caribbean and Africa. I'm a commercial pilot and I'm currently employed by a Swiss company flying for oil companies. At the moment I'm flying for Anadarko, a Houston based oil company, in Algeria. This means that I'm away for about five weeks at a time which can be pretty tough when you are a married guy. My goal is to break into the corporate aviation market in the US soon so I don't have to spend weeks at a time in a container in the Sahara. Any other pilots on this board by the way?
For the last couple of years I have been considering getting a 996 Cab, but have not felt I could justify the rather large big expense. However, now I feel that I'm soon in the position to make the dream come true and have started to look around a bit more seriously.
I currently drive a Volvo (being a Swede) and belong to a couple of Volvo forums, and I know the amount of valuable information one can find on these kind of forums. From what I have seen this Porsche forum seems to consist of some very helpful people.
That's pretty much all for now. Looking forward "getting to know" you guys. By the way, are there any Dallas people on here? I plan on joining the Dallas Porsche Club, once I get the car of course. Not sure a Volvo would be welcome
