Have a 2006 Cayman S and its unbeleivable!!! They really did a great thing designing this machine. It handles like a dream and is pretty fast through turns. I have driven 911's and this thing feels more grounded. Anyone else feel the same?

 

The Cayman S is a lovely car. The mid engine layout in Cayman and Boxster gives them a natural advantage in handling due to the lower polar moment of intertia - people are always pointing that out. But these cars have another advantage compared to the 911 -- they are more balanced end to end -- the 911 has way too much weight on the rear to ever be balanced. I was not impressed with mine at all -- make it light and low and put big tires on it and nearly anything will handle "well." The 911 Carrera (a 996), with its 59% rear weight bias and front strut suspension, was a bit of a pig, I thought, compared to cars like the Evoke or the Aston Vantage (maybe the most underrated handling car out there) that have true A-arm suspensions and better balance.
