How are German cars different than American or Japanese cars in terms of driving.?

How are German cars different than American or Japanese cars in terms of driving.?
Never driven a BMW or Mercedes or Audi, etc. Just want to know the difference when driving them on the road. I'm really considering a BMW for my next car.
