Default New car choice

I took the day off and shopped for a new car -- wanted just a nice sedan: prestige and performance didn't really enter into it, just comfort and so forth. Traded my 15 year old Ford Ranger pickup on it (got nothing much for it but I got rid of it, at least)

Looked at Audi (too expensive for what I'd get), BMW (never liked them that much, and their current styling looks contrived to me), Jag (the XF is really nice and less than I would have expected, but it takes a bit of time off the line), Cadillac CTS (better than Audis and BMW's that are even near its price, but it is so edgy -- I do not like the styling, and the new Malibu (for the money, really an incredible car -- and, this impresses me, just as fast in a straight line as a stock 1966 GTO was-- o-60 in 6.0 and 1/4 in 14.5 at 97 mph --- wow!).

But I came home with a new Lincoln MKZ. A really nice, "soft," car with surprising power from its 3.5 liter engine, and good refinement, all for only $33K drive out. I'm getting old and a lot of mornings I will really look forward to the soft ride and cup holders I won't have to fight with compred to the Porsche. ((Don't criticize, guys, someday you will be 60 and believe me, you will understand).

It looks nice next to the Porsche.

Good for you Lee! You still have your Porsche to balance out that driving experience.
