Non Porsche owned by Forum Members
On a UK website www.911uk.com for which I am also Forum Member, there is a section for other make cars owned by members.
As many if not the majority of members on this Forum are USA based, I thought I would give you a few "pics" of one of the cars on my "signature" that many in the USA will not have seen:-
It is the Smart Roadster Coupe'. Model designation S700RC. Please note my Registration Plate.
Smarts originally appeared as a funky 2 seater car, that could park length wise in the width of a normal car park space. They were derived originally fromthe owner of the "Swatch Watch Company" built in France and originally appeared with a600cc3 cylinder turbo charged engineand a semi automatic transmission. Later Mercedes took them over, and the Original City Car continued with the introduction of a Sports Car in Roadster and Coupe forms now uprated to 700cc Turbo Charge with 80BHP from 1.0 bar boost. Also came the Brabus tuned version with 100BHPfrom the 700cc Engine with 1.4 bar boost. Then a 4 Seater Smart for 4 was introduces with a 1000cc engine.
However sales of the Smart for 4 and the Sports Model were not adequate, although both cars have a good following in the UK, and the Sports and "For 4 Model" were discontinued in late 2006.
My Roadster Coupe has reveived a few mods with increased boost (up from the 1.4 bar on the Brabus to 1.6 bar),revised ECU program, inlet and exhaust systems. (It runs around 115-120bhp). It continues with the only option Semi Automatic Transmission developed for the City Car.
It also has some appearance modswith Front, Rear and Side Skirts and the front and rear grilles have been Painted Silver ilo theself coloured polycarbonate finish on the standard cars.
They are a fun car and turn in between 45-50mpg, and in my case a topspeed of 120+ mph.
Best Regards Big Bob

I have a 1992 Ford Ranger pickup with a 3-liter V6 and 5 speed, very clean interior but a very ratty outside, and about 265,000 miles. It has become a daily driver on rainy days because it is just a nice little ride.
And a '98 Camaro: subframe, locker rear axle, no sound insulation, full roll cage, and a built iron block 408 with AFR big port heads at 11.5 compression, etc., etc. : 540 RWHP NA, 800 with NOS. Lifts the front wheels on a hard launch.
And a '66 Sunbeam Tiger, fairly original (never restored and looking a bit tired and faded), and maybe the only one left with an undisturbed original V8 (most owners replace theearly 4.3 liter 2-barrel Ford small block with a decades laterfuel injected 5-liter). And the only car I have ever seen with a gas gauge calibrated in gallons rather than labeled empty to full.

Hi Lee
I did have a "brush" with a Sunbeam Tiger in about69. Even then corrosion had taken its toll. The UK Rootes Group (before Chrysler ownership), were not really into Phosphate and Electrocoat + Interior Waxes in those days!! But it was a great car, small but with that lazy Ford engine very quick. I always saw it as the poor mans Cobra!
Anyway what about a photograph of it? Regards Big Bob
PS Doc how do we get Non Porsche Owned by Forum Members as an area on the Forum?

It's really kinda nice to see that so many people own porsche's yet still are car guys at heart. I know there are people out there that own them just to say they do. But its nice to see in your guys' case that you have other cars that still intrigue you. Like the camaro guy... haha very nice! It's nice to see a little car diversity on here!
