Default 911 turbo eurospec vs 930 us turbo

hello all,

I'm currently looking at a 82 911 turbo euro spec w/3.3L engine.

1. Are there any easy ways to determine that this is truly an original european turbo? Should i be asking for documentation, will i see it on the title, do i check the speedo. I just want to make sure it's a legit turbo from europe and not a clone.

2. What are the major differences bet. us and euros, ie, let't compare the above care w/ a 79 turbo 3.3L. Apparently the euro's have 300bhp as opposed to the 250hp us-i'm not sure if this is true. Are they lower, meaning ride height, than the us version?

3. I'm also looking at a 79 us turbo that has a 5 speed, supposedly stock. I've only seen 4spd g50's on the us turbo models from 76-79. I'm not sure if this 5 spd is a g50. If they did come w/5spd does anyone have any reviews or comparision vs g50 4spd.

thanks in advance, paul.

I don't believe the documentation will be they way to go.... first hand inspection by a local Porsche expert might be the way to go!!

Try sending an email or a Private Message to PORSCHE DOC .... he know A LOT about these cars

You need to get the VIN. If you provide that to anyone that knows the cars they will be able to confirm if it was a Euro. To tell if a car is a faux turbo or not is not that hard if you know them. The cars have tell all's that will show up. Things like the suspension and so on. The easiest is the VIN though.

All the 78-79 US cars and Euro 930s had the same power. They were all the same power. The difference bewtten the Euro and the US version was DOT equipment. Larger bumperetts, different headlights and glass. Engine wise there is NO difference.

The 75-88 Turbo Carrera and 930 were all a "930" tranny. The G50 5 speed was in one year only-1989. There is no G50 4 speed. Only the 930 four speed. This includes the short nose (bell housing) of the 75-77.

Most importantly get a PPI. This is the most important and best investment you can make.
